Super Vintage, welcome to A Sustainable Closet! Tell us about you and why you started your business.

Hello and thanks for contacting us. Super vintage started in 2019 when Igor and I founded it. It is a cloth accessory, furniture and objects shop. I come from a fashion and photography background, Studio Bercot, a fashion school based 1 block from our shop, and Igor is a designer designing furniture and interiors, he designed and built the shop! Extremely functional.

I worked in a Merci shop in the Marais, a fashion and house furniture shop. I was in charge of the home department, buying vintage furniture and organising exhibitions. Opening a shop was an objective we had for many years, the excitement of finding original clothes, furniture and funny objects.

So, Igor always told me that we must open a shop to stop putting everything at home, so one day I went to a real estate agency and asked them if they knew of a shop to rent near our home. And guess what? He said yes, what a perfect hit.

We have heard from our readers and followers that you have a wide range of amazing items in the store. Where do you source these from?

Everywhere and anywhere.

You can put me in the Sahara desert and I will still find stuff to buy or to bring back. I tell clients who complain they bought too much that it's always better to buy yourself a vintage dress or a small necklace if it makes you feel good rather than seeing a psychoanalyst.

Who shops at Super Vintage?
Our prices are very reasonable and hence we have a large variety of customers from 7-77 years old, some professionals, (actors, stylists, musicians, etc.) The neighbourhood is very lively, tourists and locals love to go out in our area which is full of life.

What have been and are the major challenges of starting Super Vintage?

Like all projects and finances are a challenge, sourcing the products we sell.

What has been the largest gain so far?

Seeing people from different backgrounds and nationalities come again and again makes us very happy and proud.

What do you think needs to change now in the fashion industry to make it more sustainable?

The fashion industry is the source of massive pollution. We believe that this industry must change its methods, slow down and pollute less. The customers hold the key, they should be more creative and reuse their wardrobes and combine existing and new items. Quality and durability are definitely one of the solutions to improve the life span of our environment.

What would you advise consumers to do who seek to create a sustainable closet and lifestyle?

Look for quality rather than quantity

What's the best thing about Super Vintage?

You will always be surprised with what you can find there. We permanently renew.

Do you have any useful tips for someone who wants to start their own sustainable and ethical shop?

"They didn't know it was impossible so they did it"
