Hi Victoria! Welcome to A Sustainable Closet! Can you please tell us more about yourself and your work related to styling?

Thanks so much for having me! Of course, I am a sustainable stylist, so my work is dedicated to helping people unlock their personal style and dress well, without it harming the planet. I work one on one with clients and I also work with brands on styling campaigns in a more eco-friendly way!

Have you always been interested in fashion and styling or how come you ended up doing the work that you do? Fashion has always been my favourite way to express myself, and I've always loved experimenting with clothing. I actually started up my own mini fast fashion brand in 2017, then realised how harmful it was to the planet, so I donated all the stock to a local youth organisation and then decided I would pivot into sustainable fashion, I started off by offering rentals and then did styling courses and built myself up from there!

What is your view on the fashion industry?

How long do you have haha? It can be a frustrating place! Sometimes it feels like progress is being made in small increments, positive changes are definitely happening, but it's going to take us years to undo all the bad habits we've picked up through the years.

What does your personal closet look like?

Eclectic is the word I would use to describe my closet! If you looked inside my wardrobe you would probably think three different people owned it as my style depends on my mood, Sometimes I'm top to toe in bright colours, others I'm a bit grunge/rock chic then sometimes I'm straight up glam!

Any favourite items you have in your closet?

I have a few! My favourite secondhand find is a vintage Jaques Vert hot pink suit, and I also have some of my late grandmother's clothes that have a special place in my heart!

How can one style more sustainably? What are your best tips on where to start?

Start with what is already in your wardrobe, the most sustainable piece of clothing is one you already own. See if you can re-style it, or upcycle it into something new! When you feel like you need to add something to your wardrobe, spend time looking for secondhand, sustainable options or rent an item to wear!

Any other news or updates you would like to share?

No news or updates, but some words of wisdom. If lots of us make smaller, better and more conscious choices when it comes to our wardrobes, we can make change on a huge scale!
