MUNTHE - On a Journey to Become Sustainable

MUNTHE is a colourful Danish fashion brand with art at its core, producing unique everyday designs you want to wear forever. MUNTHE was founded back in 1994 in Copenhagen by Creative Director Naja Munthe as an artistic and craft-focused antidote to the contemporary fashion industry. MUNTHE has earned a reputation and respected position in the fashion industry and with the launch of their Pre Fall 23 collection, we decided to dig deeper in their journey to become more sustainable.

MUNTHE has 6 sustainability commitments being applied in every aspect of their supply chain:

  • Female empowerment

  • Transparency

  • Towards no waste

  • Decent work environments

  • Low impact production

  • Social responsibility

The Pre Fall 23 collection has without doubt caught our attention with its elegant and graceful dresses and sets to timeless and classic everyday workwear. It has all you need and more. The inspiration for the collection has been drawn from Fiji and its magical nature, which is noticeable in the graphic palettes, colour detailing and flowy yet feminine silhouettes. The pieces breathe Fijian elements such as the flora, the mountains, the vibrant sunsets, the coconut palm tree-lined beaches and coral reefs along with bloomy prints making the collection strong, seductive, and free – but also fragile, soft, and loving.

Many of the Pre Fall 23 garments have the “MUNTHE MORE RESPONSIBLE” tag, meaning these styles contribute to a more responsible fashion industry. These garments are made from a minimum of 50% recycled or certified low impact materials that have a better and more humble environmental footprint. And as always, MUNTHE upheld our commitment to more sustainable practices with 55% of the collection being created from more responsible materials. That’s the way to go MUNTHE, one step at a time.
