We all know that the most sustainable closet is a closet with items you use regularly and love. A closet that suits your needs and your lifestyle. And of course it would be good if the items entering and leaving where doing so in a circular or social and environmentally friendly way. To create a closet with items you use regularly doesn’t always mean buying new products, it can simply mean to rediscover the clothes you already have. Here are a few tips of challenges you can do to reactivate your closet and enjoy your clothes even more.

  • The stylist choice

No, you don’t need to hire a professional stylist, you can simply ask your friend. Ask he/she to style five outfits with items from your closet for the upcoming week. In that way you will have your outfits for the whole week planned, which saves you time and you might discover a new way to match your clothes.

  • The rainbow week

If your closet has more than just black and white, see if you can challenge yourself by dressing in red and pink one day, blue and grey the next, yellow and white the third day, the forth day in shapes of green and brown and finalise the week with metallic and silver. To go extreme on colours can also be an interesting way to discover what you feel most comfortable in.

  • One item, several outfits

Pick you favourite blues, skirt or pants and see for how long you can wear that item while mixing with the rest of the items in your closet. Maybe the jeans lasted 20 days because you have 20 tops. Maybe the white shirt lasted ten days since you have ten pants and skirts to wear it with. Be very creative! Why not using dresses over the jeans to add a few more days?

  • The office uniform

Have you ever tried the same outfit while working? Maybe you hava few similar items, such as black pants and blouse with patterns. What happens if your office or work outfit would be only using those black pants and the blouse? Who would you be and how would it feel? Try a new uniform per week and see which one you feel the most comfortable with.

  • The time traveler

Get inspired by the decades and dress accordingly. For how long can you live in the 60s or 70s based on what you have in your closet? Or do you know that you already have a closet for the 90s? Google images, try your best to look the same as long as possible.

  • The 10 items, several outfits

Have you ever tried to create a minimalistic closet with only a few items? Pick your favourites and make sure you have a few items of pants, tops, dresses and maybe a jacket or a blazer. Mix these ten items with accessories and different shoes and see how much you actually can variate with only a few items.

  • The statement week

Is there any particular environmental awareness day or is there a social media movement going on striving to improve equality? To dress in the color of that particular day or movement, to use statement T-shirts or create your own statement outfit is a wonderful way to create awareness. Overshoot day could for example be stated by layers of layers of oversize. Post your outfit on social media or tell your friends when you meet them what your outfit is all about. Use fashion to create an impact!

We hope you find these challenges interesting! Please feel free to share in the comment field or by email your insights after taking on one or several of these challenges.
