Underwear might be the hardest item to get circular and second-handed. Finding underwear that is still in good shape and fits our body is tricky. And maybe underwear is actually one of those garments we should really wear and tear ourselves? Therefore it is essential that there are good brands out there doing responsible business while offering comfortable, diverse and sustainable underwear. We have listed a few of our favourites to help you purchase responsibly next time you are in a need of something to wear close to your skin.

Dedicated

Stockholm-based Dedicated has a passion for organic and Fairtrade cotton. The factories are listed on their website and certified according to for example GOTS. This is a haven when it comes to underwear for men but you will also find a lot of socks, T-shirts and other basics not to mention their statement clothing.

Underprotection

This Danish brand is B-corp certified. Uses recycled materials and organic cotton, are PETA approved, uses sustainable packaging and even provides a care guide (such as washing your synthetic recycled fibre in a Guppyfriend bag). It’s harder to find a brand taking responsibility in so many areas and the designs are diverse, and beautiful and come in many colours. Most of the products are produced in Europe (you can read where each item has been produced) and most of them have different kinds of certificates such as GOTS.

Woron

Here comes another Copenhagen-based brand! A brand created to make you want to keep your underwear on all the time due to how comfortable they are on your body! All fibres and trimming are certified and produced in Europe. The materials are GOTS-certified cotton, Lenzing Modal (beech wood) and regenerated Econyl (plastic ocean waste). The factories and their countries are listed. This is the place to get your most comfortable basics!

Colorful Standard

The popular brand Colorful Standard produces their garments in Portugal with Oeko-Tex Certified dyes on organic cotton. This is the place for hoodies, T-shirts and other basics.

JulieMay was founded by Tiffany Chiu when her mother, Julie, started to experience new skin irritations after the birth of her second daughter. JulieMay was born to provide women with safe lingerie not causing any irritation or problems for women’s skin. Among the material used, you can find GOTS-certified cotton.
