If you’re like me, you probably prefer to touch, feel and try on your clothes before you buy them. To order online, get it delivered and to discover that the clothes you found adorable on the pictures doesn’t really match reality, is not a very fun experience. However, plenty of minor brands in the field of sustainability only do e-trade, but there are stores where you definitely can choose more consciously produced items (The sustainability aspect of buying online is a topic for another post).
Here I’ll share with you my favourite stores in my hometown in Stockholm. If you live here or happen to pass by, these are the places to go to!
Ecosphere - both women mer or whatever you want to wear. A little bit of everything, jackets, shoes, books and here you get excellent service and a diversity of brands such as COSSAC, Veja, Underprotection, Kowtow and so on.
Grandpa - high quality brand with a Scandinavian touch. You find conscious brands such as Rodebjer and Brixtol.
Adisgladis - Kings of indigo, Veja, Langerchen, Ecoalf and many more. This is the place for excellent service and I always feel inspire to spend more time outdoor. If you go there, you’ll know why.
Dedicated - T-shirts, tops and now pants. All in organic cotton and now they also got produced by Tencel. Fairtrade certified and “planet earth” statement shirts!
APLACE - Here I would go for Filippa K, Rodebjer, Sandqvist, Swedish Stockings and Wood Wood. They are the more conscious brands!
Deadwood - This is where you get your leather jacket! Their products are made from rescued deadstock skins, repurposed vintage clothing and upcycled post-production waste.
654 - love the surf culture even though my surfing skils are almost none. Patagonia.. yes, there other things too, but I love Patagonia!
Friends’table - conscious food also has some conscious brands, for your home and your closet!
Sabina and friends - are you invited for dinner, wedding or any other event? Why buying something new when you can rent it?!
Remake - Erikshjälpens own brand. Beautiful clothes made out of post consumer waste!
Rave Review - The brand that managed to turn something old into something luxury!
Second hand and Vintage
These four second hand companies are places you can visit regularly since second hand shopping requires certain skills and patience. They have stores all over Stockholm and my favourite is Red Cross Second hand at Hornsgatan close to Mariatorget. It’s small and easy to find beautiful things.
This might not necessarily be only clothes with high quality, but at Filippa K you’ll find clothes from their own brand and at Judit you’ll find a mix of everything. But at Judit you’re more likely then other second hand stores to find more luxury brands if that’s your thing.
I’ll hope my guide will help you next time shopping in Stockholm. Remember to look after and use what you have and try to buy/rent/borrow what’s already been used.
